Highlights at Voltage and the I Like You trunk show

MN Fashion Week started off with a bang! on Friday, April 16th at the Voltage Fashion Amplified rock/fashion show held annually at 1st Ave in Minneapolis.

P&B had the fortunate experience of designing accessories for Christine Carmichael of Carmichael Claith clothing. Christine's personality synced perfectly with that of mine and Sarah's. She was easy to work with, incredibly talented and supplied wine when necessary (that's key).

See our Facebook album for images from our segment of the runway (to the incredible tunes of Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps - outfitted immaculately by our pals Calpurnia Peach). Also, check out Staciaann Photography's official Voltage pics on Flickr. We start at bottom right, page 4.

Despite being only mildly verbally harassed by a securiy guard (I had to Sarah....I had to) for forgetting my badge and my mind the entire production went off without a hitch. Word on the street is it's the best one yet, and we agree! The entire production was flawless. We only lost one model to her heels, but after she departed the catwalk (luckily).

On Sunday, Sarah and Angela of I Like You (check out their adorable newly updated website) hosted a trunk show and Anniversary Party (coincidentally sharing their 1st anniversary very close to that of mine and my husband's) with many talented designers to be seen in the back of the store. I had no idea the shop was this big! We met a lot of talented people and caught up with some older acquaintances like Rebecca Yaker (heart all her sock monkey gear....catch her stylings in the latest Kia commercial).

The kids' cube.

George Moskal (a local clothing designer also featured inVoltage) dropped in and tried on our novelty goggles. Ha!

Sarah and Angela provided some yummy treats for the party guests (including homemade cupcakes, yum!).

Headbands, hair clips and bowties...oh my!

Voltage pieces

We traded this red birdband with Rebecca for two sets of her earrings (I picked up sweet skull earrings with blue maribou feathers and Sarah scored a lifesaver and anchor set).

Stacy Schwartz of Staciaann Photography (official Voltage photographer) snagged this teal bowband.

This girl was adorable. She came back at least 3 times to try on this hat and said "I feel that no one else should have this but me.".

Overall, a crazy...but successful weekend!

...featuring Sarah's 'Queen of Hearts' inspired buffalo check dress with black capelet...and P&B ruff with red bowtie. Don't forget her sweet little top hat. Well done friend. Check here for the rest of the amazing submissions.

I'm totally in the mood to see this movie now. I heart Tim Burton.

Voltage site up and running

...and it looks amazing! I'm really enjoying the rotating music selection playing on the site from 2010's Voltage bands, a preview of what's to come!

Kudos to Chris Larson, the Art Director, for this year's vision and to Stephanie Colgan for her amazing Photography!

Here's the main site, Voltage Fashion Amplified, but you can find us under the Fashion/Accessory Designers section.

Our info:

Andrea Pease & Sarah Bein
Accessories Designer

Sparked from the minds of Andrea Pease and Sarah Bein (hence the name), Pea's & Bean's hair adornments are flirty, whimsical and cheer-inducing. The pair's custom creations are the perfect accent to your already magnificent mane. The intent is to induce happiness ... and silliness (and why not?).

Each piece is lovingly crafted by hand and truly unique. The majority of each collection is created with found and vintage items. Needless to say, thrift stores and estate sales have become their fast friends.

In previous seasons the duo has drawn inspiration from embellished birds, rich velvet ribbons and objects that sparkle and shine. This Spring, Pea's & Bean's will be serving up fresh ideas for all to enjoy.

Pics from Jan '10 Voltage Buyer Event

We have scrounged some pictures that were posted to Voltage's Facebook fan page for your viewing pleasure...although, if you were already a fan you would have seen them yourself. Do we have to do all the work? Dang. ;)

Fab photos courtesy of Stacy Schwartz at Staciaann Photography:

Sarah and I pre-event, warming up with some Crispin Cider.

Our very own Alice in Wonderland. All gowns and garments by Christine Carmichael of Carmichael Claith...accessories by yours truly, obvi.

This model also modeled for theLook Book photo shoot this afternoon. Look for her (I would imagine) on the Voltage Fashion Amplified site shortly! She was advised to act like a marionette today for the shoot and props to that as the photos are sufficiently more than satisfactory! I could never do it myself. Beautiful. You'll see...you'll see.

Little top hat.

Christine taking her final walk-through with her model, to the applause of many.

Post event, Sarah and I peddling our goods. Yes, I needed to wear the red headband, asap. Somehow the model made it look better. I suppose that's her job so I will let it go.

See anything you like? We are now available at I Like You in NE...come see for yourself! ;)

VOTE for Sarah & Kyle!

A: Yes, we are alive (a month later) and kickin'.

B: Voltage Buyer Event on 1/26 at Vision Modeling Agency was a real interesting mix of peeps in the local fashion industry, including people carrying dogs as accessories. Dying to have had my camera, danggit. Picture a Lenny Kravitz type, v-neck sweater with no shirt, oversized dark glasses, fur collar, Pomeranian on forearm. No idea...no idea.

Others you may have seen...

Yes, we know who they are. It's a fun test for you though right? Interesting night. Good times.

C: Quick note to vote for Sarah and her fiance Kyle in Crate & Barrel's $100k wedding contest!
Sarah and Kyle will be getting married in September on their 10 year anniversary (shock and awwww). Their story is adorable and so is their daughter Lucy, obviously. She, we, would love your support for their dream wedding outside of St. Louis.
Check out Sarah's wedding blog for details on their county fair themed wedding and vote at this link for the contest! Thanks a ton, yo.
And Happy Birthday to my sister Amanda!!! ;) 31 and one hot mama (literally).

Voltage photo shoot (and spa) day!

Today started out pretty swell...getting our hair cut and dyed at Juut (or "jooooot" as my husband would say) in Uptown. I really needed a picture of me with all the foils in my hair. Cory, my stylist, said that I could now pick up radio frequencies (sadly, I did not).

So, after looking pretty fab we departed with new Aveda tonic and hairspray in hand (we're suckers) and headed to the Independent where we had time to eat approximately two bites of our lunch and then had to rush out in the extremely bitter cold to make it to our Voltage photo shoot in NE at the MNfashion studio.

We arrived literally on the dot, 3:50pm with taco breath and great looking hair...good combo. I had already changed in the bathroom of the Independent, natch...Sarah changed when we arrived. P&B headbands as accessories we hit up the shoot for a quick 5 min each and then, voila, c'est fini!

Then we attempted, and I stress 'attempted', to begin our Spring collection tonight. We basically succeeded in strewing things about...and that's it.

Before (clean office...nice, organized, clean office...well, sort of...for us this is good!):

After (extremely disorganized with nothing much accomplished, boo hiss):

For most of you these may look like one of those image contests where they test you to see what ten things are different...or, you may think they look the same because with all this "stuff" you can only look so organized in the first place.
